Infant's Acetaminophen Dosages

Acetaminophen is one of the hardest drugs to give correctly, because it's sold in many forms. This chart can help you give your child the right amount. I know through having four babies of my own that with each new baby it seemed there was always a change. Whether it be from belly sleeping to back sleeping or dosing by age to dosing by weight....here's the up and up on Tylenol dosing for now!

Acetaminophen safety tips

  • The correct dose for your child is based on weight, not age. If you don't know how much your child weighs and he's too young to stand on a scale, weigh yourself while holding him and then weigh yourself alone. Subtract your weight from the combined weight to get your child's weight.
  • Don't give acetaminophen to a baby under 3 months without a doctor’s approval.
  • Shake liquid medicine well before measuring.
  • Use the measuring device that comes with the medicine and do not give more than recommended. If you lose the device, get a replacement from the pharmacy or use a standard measuring teaspoon (the kind used for baking), not a regular spoon used for eating.
  • Never give acetaminophen to a child who's taking other medicine that contains acetaminophen unless a doctor advises it.
  • Infants' and children's liquid acetaminophen (both labeled "oral suspension") have the same concentration: 160 mg per 5 ml. The only difference is that the infant version comes with a syringe and the children's version comes with a cup.
(Note: A more concentrated version of infant acetaminophen "drops" was discontinued in the United States in 2011 and should be discarded if it’s still in your home. Concentrated infant drops may still be sold in other countries.)
  • You can repeat the dose every four hours. Don't give more than five doses in 24 hours.

FeverAll Acetaminophen Suppositories

Why should I keep FeverAll® in my medicine cabinet, you ask? Four big reasons!
1. Benzocaine teething gels are a no-no. Earlier this year, the FDA advised against using teething medicine containing benzocaine commonly found in teething gels. Acetaminophen is safe when used as directed and is commonly recommended by pediatricians as a temporary pain reliever for teething.
2. As a parent, you know to expect the unexpected. With FeverAll®, you will be ready to temporarily relieve your infant’s or child’s pain and reduce fever, even when you are unable to get them to take liquid acetaminophen orally due to fussiness, vomiting, spitting up, or spitting out.
3. FeverAll® is trusted: It’s an Official Recommended Product of “Mommy MD Guides” (http://www.mommymdguides.com/), and parents and healthcare providers have relied on the accuracy and ease-of-use of FeverAll® for more than 30 years to temporarily relieve pain and reduce fever.
4. There’s nothing else like it: FeverAll® is the top national brand of acetaminophen in suppository form and FeverAll® Infants’ Strength (80 mg) is the ONLY acetaminophen suppository approved for infants as young as six months.
FeverAll® is available at major retailers and drugstores across the U.S., such as CVS, Rite Aid, Walgreens, and Walmart, for a suggested retail price of approximately $7.00 for a package of six suppositories. FeverAll® is available in three strengths, ranging from Infants to Children’s and Jr. Strength for kids up to 12 years of age. Learn more about FeverAll® at www.FeverAll.com and join our community at www.Facebook.com/FeverAll.

My baby girl starting her teething journey!

My Take:

I'm a mommy to 4 children age 5 and under....needless to say I have encountered many times where my teething or sick babies needed medication and over the past 5 years what has been considered "safe" has changed dramatically, which is a scary thing for parents! I have had babies teething when the Tylenol recall happened and all were pulled from shelves, I have used Hyland's teething tablets when they were pulled from shelves and I used the teething gels shortly before the FDA declared them unsafe due to the benzocaine. It's a SCARY thing! When I was informed about the FeverAll Acetaminophen Suppositories I was also scared, BUT for a different reason. Between you and me I have never actually had to administer one before. I was trained to do it in one of my past jobs but never had to put my knowledge into action. To ease your mind though here is why I am still using FeverAll - it wasn't hard at all!!! Granted the first time was a bit different for my baby girl and I but by taking the chance I KNEW what amount of medication she had (since she wasnt spitting out liquid all over) and I saw the relief she got from it and it was QUICK! Not only will it reduce a fever when she has one but last month alone she got 7 teeth (seriously...yea...Seven!) and she was in much less pain after giving her the FeverAll. The most important thing for me as a mom on this journey is to do what is safe for my girls and right now FeverAll is the only thing I still feel safe using after what I saw happen to all the other meds I use to use. If you are in the same position I was in a few months ago please give them a try. Not only will it ease your mind but your infant/toddler/child will feel the relief too!

My Take-

As a mother of four I am use to the toy section of our local stores. I will not lie.....there are some toys  I actually dread the purchase of due to their annoying nature or sky high pricing but this time I was  pleased. Even though I have some crazy days most of the time my humor stays intact and "Goldie" (the yellow giggle gang toy) cracks me up!! I was more worried about my reaction to the toy then my 6 month old daughters and we both ended up loving it! For me this toy was cute, safe and reasonably priced. For my daughter it is soft, can handle being tossed to the ground (which happens constantly due to the fact that the more you squeeze or shake them the more noise they make), has little leggies and arms that are fun to yank on and it LAUGHS just like another baby would. Granted each one has its own color but its the laugh that the toy carries that makes it unique! I've been working on buying the whole set just so I can hear each one! Besides my 6 month old, my 3 year old twins also play with them! Their crazy baby laughs make them as happy as it does me. They'll carry each one around and pretend like they are real babies- which is fine with me because these sound a lot better than those dolls that scream like real babies instead laugh! So even though my 6 month old enjoys the giggle gang my 3 year olds do to which makes it a good buy just because everyone can enjoy it!  Its colors make it appealing to look at, its soft to the touch and their laughter is contagious, if you haven't yet, you honestly need to get a part of the Giggle Gang for your child's enjoyment....and your own!

About The Company -
Since 1930, Fisher-Price has been in business to create toys that fascinate and stimulate a child's imagination. Fisher-Price was founded in 1930, hardly the best time to launch a new business as the shadows of the Depression still loomed over American business. Still, Herman Fisher, Irving Price and Helen Schelle combined their diverse manufacturing and retailing experience to create a toy company and confidently brought 16 wooden toys to the International Toy Fair in New York City. The whimsical nature and magical surprises of those first Fisher-Price toys quickly caught on and became the hallmarks of Fisher-Price ever since. Fisher-Price believes in the potential of children and in the importance of a supportive environment in which they can grow, learn, and get the best possible start in life. Fisher-Price supports today's families with young children through our breadth of products that includes GeoTrax, Imaginext, Little People, Laugh and Learn, Thomas the Tank, Thomas and Friends, Elmo, Dora the Explorer, Go Diego Go, Sesame Street, Smart Cycle, Ni Hao Kai-Lan, Toy Story and other learning toys and pretend play items

BABY'S RECORD KEEPER & MEMORY BOX (Peter Pauper Press)

I cannot say enough about Peter Pauper Press and the items I have gotten from them that help me keep my most important memories documented! (I have a current review of one of their growth charts up also!) They have great quality items at great prices all the time! The item I'm talking about now is a "scrapbook", one different from any other ones I have ever seen! It is very normal until you get to the back of it-
See that thing in the back? Its a Memory box with a magnetic cover!! I imagine you could keep things like the first tooth, haircut, and everything like that in there but what I currently use it for is the footprints/hospital bracelets and pictures I have yet to get placed onto their pages in the scrapbook! Its a great way to not lose anything and have it right there when you find the time to get some of it done! If your anything like me scrapbooking can be hard to keep up with but you know its deffinantly worth it so you do what you can, when you can! The other reasons I chose this keeper was because of its neutral coloring (since I wasn't sure what my baby to be was) and that it has special places to record all of your baby's firsts!! Which any mother knows is super important! Some day I will have it all filled in and be giving it to my baby girl when she grows up and starts a family of her own! I imagine it will be worth more to her than words could say! Get your copy here for $24.95!
Heres the info on this must have record keeper/memory box!

Parents-Confused about Acetaminophen? Pedia Care and Little Remedies are here to Help!

Pedia Care and Little Remedies are the FIRST companies I have began to trust after the whole tylenol recall that happened awhile ago! With four childen (3 toddlers and one 2 month old) I used tylenol frequently and after that scare I was never able to really trust what I was giving my children! Acetaminophen seems to be a safe enough medicane but there are soooo many ways to mess up when dosing for your child! I recently have gotten the chance to review Pedia Care's fever reducer/pain reliever  for children ages 2-11 and Pedia Care's Infant's Fever reducer/Pain reliever for ages 0-36 months and I can honestly say I trust a product again! I strongly, strongly urge you as a parent to click HERE to view Pedia Care's Acetaminophen Dosage Chart! I was so scared for the longest time that I couldn't give my children acetaminophen because...does it have unsafe "junk" in it that could harm my babies, is the dosing wrong, is it trustworthy anymore? Little Remedies says on the box "Everything they need. Nothing they don't!" and Pedia Care reads "We care for the kids", I find both of those statements accurate and comforting! It seems like they know how I feel on this topic and they have taken extra measures to make sure our kids are SAFE and a medicane we are using to try to help them won't hurt them! They have also created this awesome "flow restrictor styled" bottle to make dosing easier for all ages and make dosing errors minimal I absolutely LOVE this feature! I will never use another brand of fever reducer as long as this one exists! These 2 brands have made great advances in making parents feel safe enough to use acetaminophen for their children again and I as a mother of 4 greatly appreciate that! Just pick up a box to see where I'm coming from!  These products are available in mass market retail, supermarkets, drugstores and pharmacies nationwide! (P.S. - they also have a coupon offer)! Enter the Giveaway Below to win one of each of the following PediaCare Products-Giveaway ENDS 2/10/12 One time entry*may tweet for extra entries!

Growing like a weed? Get a Peter Pauper Press Growth Chart to keep up!

Over the past year I have become a huge fan of Peter Pauper Press!  They carry many useful items-anything from holiday cards, journals, little black books, planners, stationary, record keepers for every occasion (especially a new baby!)  and even growth charts! With four little ones its hard to keep track of every sentimental thing I want to because each day is so busy but I was looking for something to compare how much and how fast each of my girls were growing! It takes me about 2 minutes to take my 3 toddlers, stand them next to the chart and mark their progress! They actually look forward to seeing how big they've gotten even though it kind of makes me sad! I love that this chart is movable, has an adorable design, its simple and it has a hard cover to it so it would take a lot to destroy it unlike the softcover ones you can hang!(and in my house accidents happen often so the hard outside is great!) and when my girls out grow this chart I plan on sticking it away safely and eventually use it to look back on their childhood! I think things like this are a very important thing to a mother and would be a great item to have! It would also be a unique but special present to get someone for their baby shower because not a lot of people would think of it but I'm sure the new parents would put it to use as soon as possible!   Keep an eye out for a review on  their baby record keeper and memory box! Also be sure to enter the giveaway below to get your own growth chart to start tracking how fast your little one is growing!

Infantino Support™ Ergonomic Cotton Carrier

As a mother of four many people would think I've tried about every baby product under the sun but thats surprisingly enough not true. I am a young mother but have an "old mother" type of parenting style, I think many of todays "advances" are actually just a waste of time and money...and I know my four year old does not need a cell phone and an MP3 player. If some parents let their children have these types of things thats fine for them but out here in the country a child is more likely to be out in the barn helping their dad then texting their kindergaden friends! So when all of these "baby carriers" started coming out I thought to myself "they are wayyy overrated and not necessary!"
Our newest addition born in November was my test subject for this baby carrier product I got to try from Infantino! Its an Infantino Support Ergonomic Cotton Carrier. The most impotant things to pull from its name is support and ergonomic- it basically means its designed to give you and your baby maximum comfort, the lumbar belt provides awesome back support for you while the natural seated position supports baby! There are also 2 positions you can use "facing in-cozy time and backpack exploring" As shown below:

Aubree is about 10lbs now and I use the carrier with her facing in, after she gains more neck strength I plan to try the other position! This carrier also has an extremely pretty and sophisticated pattern on the inside so you can still feel "chic" but if dad uses it, it won't show so the other Mr. Moms can't pick on him! There is a chest strap that keeps the carrier snug, a top strap to balance baby's weight safely (weight level is 8lbs-40lbs) and even loops for hiding away extra straps so you can avoid that sloppy look!
I loved this product from Infantino and it saddens me to know that I could've used carriers for my three other girls but my closed mind on baby products kept me from something that could've helped me out a lot. With 3 toddlers running around the house I really needed a way to keep the baby with me at all times but to be able to use my arms and get from room to room. The carrier also saves me when its time for a walk! (You can't push 2 different strollers when your only one person!) and the thing that makes me the most happy about this carrier is that Aubree loves it too! She will look around at the new perspective the carrier gives her when she's awake and sometimes she just can't battle the comfort and closeness and falls asleep! It was by far one of the most comfortable things I have ever worn, it felt natural which also surprised me and it felt secure so I knew aubree wasn't going to fall or tip out! To anyone that is a new parent or hasn't purchased a baby carrier yet this would be a great one to get! It can be found here on the Infantino website for $49.99, they also have many other great products and styles of carriers for you to choose from! I was in no way disappointed and it proved my prior feelings were completely wrong! It almost seems like Infantino knows what moms want and could really use then they take all their time, effort and heart to make the right products for moms and babies alike! I would recommend their products to anyone!  To keep up with Infantino and get the latest news and deals follow them on twitter and facebook!

Infantino Music & Motion Activity Gym

My new baby girl came into the world last month and has already gotten so big over the past 3 weeks that I can't believe it! So I figured we could put together the Infantino Music & Motion Activity Gym today for her! I think Infantino is one of those companies out there that ACTUALLY think about the babies and moms that will be using their products (not just profit)! I have 4 children now and from my first baby I began using Infantino products and I've been stuck on them ever since but I had never gotten one of their activity mats before! I am very happy with this one and all of its possible uses! Here is my list of favorite things about this baby product!

#1-Its easily portable and can be used from birth up!
#2-It grows with the baby(Sit & Play, Tummy Time and Overhead Discovery)
#3-The spinning musical monkey(most playmats I see don't have motion or music involved!)
#4-The prop up pillow and 6 detachable toys are an awesome addition to the playmat
#5-Reasonable price especially for how long you will be able to use it

The only thing I didn't like about it was the directions it came with........(it took me a few minutes to catch onto the pictures and understand what I needed to put where)

But here is what we ended up with after her big twin sisters and I got it put together!

Big sister winding up the musical spinning monkey

Look at all those colors!!

I always try to get my children to start "tummy time" early so they aren't so miserable doing it when they are a little older and it seems to help them make progress faster! She looks kind of cranky but she really wasn't! But this mat was a perfect, safe, comfy place for me to set her to do this!

Infantino did a great job with the Music & Motion Activity Gym! To get one for the baby in your life click here ! To keep up with all the latest news connect with Infantino on Facebook and Twitter!

The Most Organized Diaper Bag Ever!

Anyone that has ever had a baby knows how important it is to have a reliable diaper bag that is right for you because if you and your diaper bag can never get along when you go on outings with baby it can make a good day go bad!  I think I have finally found mine after already having 3 previous babies and 3 previous diaper bags! Let me introduce you to Fisher-Price's Deluxe Everyday Organizer with the FastFinder™ Pocket System-
It is the first diaper bag I have seen that has so many organizing options! It has a place for everything and my personal favorite feature of the bag is that these places are labeled so when grandma or dad have to go looking for something in there they will find it quickly and easily! I was also amazed at the bag's size- (its pretty much equal to the purse the average woman carries around but it seems to have even MORE room!) The insulated pocket for bottles is also a huge plus! In the past I often remember wondering how in the heck am I suppose to keep a bottle cold for a few hours without packing a mini cooler?? Now Fisher-Price has given me the answer!
I currently have my bag packed full waiting to make the trip to the hospital with me as soon as baby decides to arrive within the next 11 days and I couldn't be happier with it! Right now it holds--3 pacifiers, 2 empty bottles, 10 newborn diapers and the to-go case full of wipes (the case is included in the bag-just add wipes!), cushioned changing pad (also included), 2 swaddling blankets, 2 pairs of mittens, a hat, 2 sleeper outfits, 2 normal outfits, 2 burpcloths, 2 small toys, diaper rash cream and travel size minis of lotion, bath wash..etc  and there is still plenty of room for more! I love the space in this bag and its simple but "sophisticated" look! So if your having a baby anytime soon or someone you love is check out the  Deluxe Everyday Organizer with the FastFinder™ Pocket System Diaper Bag before anything else! It will be well worth it! I know I'm extremely impressed with mine! Its more than a diaper bag- it's my side kick when it comes to baby dilemmas! To Buy or see more about the bag click here and
remember to check out Fisher-Price on Facebook and Twitter!
